TONER PICTURES
Fast drawing with toner powder for lithographic works is very creative and stimulating. But the waiting periods between drawing, etching on the Solnhofener plates and printing, though technically necessary, are somewhat boring for me. They sometimes drive to despair. More and more I missed a spontaneous possibility of drawing and the quick view on the result – a wish which cannot be fulfilled in lithography.

In spring 2010 I began experimenting with toner powder on paper. In order to avoid the powder getting stuck within the fibres of the paper, I searched quite a while for a really smooth paper finish. With several qualities I have now the possibility to move the powder over the paper surface until the wanted picture shows up. The powder is moved by brush, combs or wooden sticks. The resulting pictures need to be fixed with a specific procedure.

The first year of working with this technique has been quite promising. I think that I am quite close to the results I had been expecting.
